Full Story
Well, here’s a fun fact. 2019, which many of us remember as the last ‘normal’ year, wasn’t just a couple of years ago. You might be thinking, “Wait, wasn’t 2016 the last ‘normal’ year?” You know, the year when Harambe, the gorilla, was shot. But let’s not digress into that story.
Now, back to 2019. A lot happened that year. One notable event was the launch of the Galaxy Watch Active 2. This smartwatch, one of Samsung’s biggest hits, hasn’t been forgotten by its Korean creators.
Fast forward to a few months ago. Samsung rolled out the One UI 5 Watch update for its Wear OS-based smartwatches. This update added new watch faces to the Galaxy Watch 4 and other newer models. Two of these watch faces even made it to the Galaxy Watch 3 just before Christmas.
And now, brace yourself. The Galaxy Watch Active 2 is also getting these new watch faces (via SamMobile). The firmware version R820XXU1FWK2 (for Wi-Fi-only) or R825FXXU1EWK2 (for LTE) doesn’t bring any new features or performance improvements. But, it does add two new watch faces from the One UI Watch 5. They’re called ‘Perpetual’ and ‘Stretched Time’.
These aren’t just any watch faces. They’re analog and come with a bunch of customization options. You can play around with colors, dials, and complications.
The update is currently rolling out to Galaxy Watch Active 2 users across the globe. If you haven’t received it yet, don’t panic. It might take a few weeks to reach some markets, depending on the region.
Want to check for the update? Just head over to the Galaxy Wearable app on your smartphone (you’ll need to have your phone and watch paired, of course). Select the Galaxy Watch Active 2 from the 3-line menu icon on the left. Navigate to Watch settings, hit Watch software update, and tap Download and install. And voila!
